The ‘Wow’ Tree and other adventures
By Lesley Withers
Have you visited the Australian Inland Botanical Garden near Mildura? A lovely show of Sturt’s Desert Pea at the moment, but wondered if the seed pod roof would be new to you.
Also the ‘Wow’ tree?
Enjoyed a lovely sunny 18’ day. Watched a paddle steamer go thru loch 11, visited Oz native garden and saw roof decorated with seed pods (imagine how much time and patience that would take to do!) plus the ‘Wow’ tree - 3500 years old roots, branches 700 years and still healthy and growing! Also watched dozens of pelicans and birds on Murray whilst morning coffee. Very relaxing.
Recommend a relaxing trip to this area in the Spring as the almond blossom is nearly fully out, as is stone fruit. Beautiful colour of ripe oranges on lush green trees, but can only imagine how beautiful the grapevines will be when sprouting.
Hope you have the opportunity to enjoy this trip.
