About our Community Garden

Ashburton Community Garden was opened on 11 October 2009 with support from the Victorian Government under the Neighbourhood Renewal Community Infrastructure Fund, the City of Boroondara and the Rotary Club of Canterbury.

Ashburton Community Garden acknowledges the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung people as the Traditional Owners and original custodians of this land. We pay our respects to their Elders past and present.

A sustainable garden with strong environmental focus on organic growing, water recycling and land care.

A garden that fosters community engagement and creates a welcoming community environment for all.

We reduce environmental impacts by using ecological gardening principles, avoiding synthetic or harmful chemicals, conserving water and providing composting facilities.

We encourage local biodiversity and provide a space for the community to connect with nature and the rhythms of the seasons.
